“One Season” carries you through a south Alabama turkey season that author Alan White has so graphically and eloquently captured and described in his writing. From the turkey hunts, life in rural south, the relationship between a Paw-Paw and grandson, you will have no trouble relating to this book. In fact, you will not be able to put it down.
Turkey hunting, Tom Kelly, timber business, granddaddy, baseball, young love, and even a crappie fishing trip. What’s not to like about “One Season”?
As I turned each page, it was obvious to me how much pride and work Alan put in this book. Every detail of every chapter is a real life experience by the author. At least the turkey hunts!!
The only suggestion I would add, is to put a bright hunters orange warning label on the front of the book that reads, “Warning!! Do not put this book in a shooting house. It will cause you to miss a deer!”
I have known Alan White for many years and have always been impressed with his journalism skills but this work takes him to another level as a bonafide novel author. Can’t wait for the next “Season”. – James,Big Daddy, Lawler, Gettin’ Outdoors Radio Show Host
A poignant, nostalgic story of learning to hunt turkeys from a beloved Grandfather. Read it and become a teenager again, complete with holding hands with the girl of your dreams. – Corky Pugh, Executive Director, Hunting Heritage Foundation and former Director, Alabama Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division
Written with great character development, the book reminded me of my own youth spent under the guiding hand of my father as we explored the outdoors together. – John N. Felsher, Outdoors writer, photographer and broadcaster
